- : i want to know what cables i need,
-
- The cable that came with the A3000 should have three 50-pin connectors,
- one of which is plugged into the motherboard, the other plugged into the
- current drive. The new drive can go on the unused connector.
-
- : how to set the scsi id,
-
- There are almost always a set of three jumpers, which are the bits for
- setting the SCSI address (ID).
-
- : if i have to configure one as master and the other slave,
-
- No, that's only for IDE.
-
- : how to choose the max transfer rate and so on..
-
- MaxTransfer is a size, not a speed setting. You should be able to look
- at what is set for the current drive and use that.
-
- You'll need to check whether the A3000 has the terminators present on the
- motherboard; if not, you'll need to add them or use an external DB25
- terminator. The catch with the latter option is that many A3000s had a
- manufacturing defect which prevented them from supplying terminator power
- to the external connector...email me, and I can find the details.
-
- The SCSI Examples document has been sent in email; it addresses these
- questions in gut-churning detail. 8-)
